Cardiff City FC Community and Education Foundation in partnership with ASI

3rd January 2012

Beginning of 2012 is an important milestone for ASI as it marks the start of an important partnership agreement with Cardiff City FC Community and Education Foundation.

With recent higher profile of soccer in Wales, it makes sense to build on this success in the principality.   Both parties believe that this will add a new dimension to Cardiff’s work in the area.  Football is the global game partly because it’s so easy to play: all you need is a ball. But while jumpers for goalposts are all well and good, you really can’t beat the satisfying swish sound of hitting the back of the net!

The use of both the iGoal and newly launched iLite will be used throughout the various projects run by the Club’s Community and Education Foundation including the innovative Beat The Street project which is aimed at 11 to 17 year olds living in under privileged communities across South Wales.  This project his will increase grassroots football provision to wider areas and Wales as a whole and give more young players the chance to enjoy their footie experience.

Community Manager Scott Young from Cardiff City FC says “We are delighted to have developed this partnership and feel the products offer our scheme tremendous advantages and opportunities to provide high quality coaching sessions, with excellent equipment in a safe environment, across the country and excitingly abroad in our new scheme being run in Malaysia.”

The official launch of the partnership will take place on Tuesday 14th February at half time during the Club’s NPower Championship fixture against Peterborough United at Cardiff City Stadium and at a development football festival on Friday 17th February, being attended by over 200 players.  These launches will also highlight the partnership existing in Malaysia as part of the 1Malaysia Cardiff City initiative and ASI as both parties aim to further develop grass roots football throughout the country.

ASI Global Sales Manager, Gavin Whelan, an ex-professional player himself says “We are very much looking forward to the benefits this will bring and not only working with Cardiff City but the other County FA’s and sporting bodies in Wales”.  He went on to say “Creating a safe environment for these youngsters to be able to train and play is a priority of the ASI brand.  Sadly, there has been a recent tragedy with goalpost safety in Wales and we don’t want this is happen again.”

ASI are delighted to have formed this relationship between the teams based both in Cardiff and Malayasia which all are agreed will prove to be positive for all concerned with the credibility of club behind ASI products.
